MEASURE YOUR COUNTERS
Union Stone strongly recommends measuring your countertops as well as your kitchen or bathroom space before meeting with our experts.
Follow the steps below to have accurate measurements of your countertops on hand.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR COUNTERTOP TO GET A QUOTE
Step 1: Take a sheet of paper, graph paper, or use software such as SketchUp.
Step 2: Use a measuring tape.
Step 3: Draw your countertops by creating rectangles.
Step 4: Label each countertop with a letter.
Step 5: Divide the surface into large rectangles and assign a letter to each.
Step 6: Measure from the walls as well as the front of the countertops to double-check. Note the depth in a few spots.
Step 7: Mark with an “X” the areas that need to be polished (finished).
HOW TO CALCULATE COUNTERTOP SQUARE FOOTAGE AND LINEAR FOOT OF FINISH
Step 1: To get the area, multiply the length by the depth.
Step 2: Add up each surface measurement in square inches.
Step 3: Divide by 144 to convert to square feet.
Step 4: Identify and add up each edge that needs to be polished, then divide by 12 to get the measurement in linear feet.
